Carrier: Qatar Airways
Aircraft: Airbus A330-300
Scale: 1:400
Manufacturer: Dragon Wings
Date Bought: December 4, 2006
Price: Php 900.00 (discounted from Php 1100.00)

This Qatari A330-300 sports the special livery for the 15th Asian Games, which were held just last December 1-15 in Doha, Qatar. More importantly, however, this plane has the distinction of being the very first aircraft model I bought, making it the current apple of my eye.

Its main rivals for my attention (and money) were a colorful Malaysian Airlines Airbus and another Qatar Airways plane (only it was orange). In the end, my bias for the colors red and maroon (blame my loyalty to UP for that) decided my purchase. I actually wanted to buy a model plane from Philippine Airlines or Cebu Pacific, but the shop didn’t have the stock.

[...] On that day, I took home my first aircraft model — a Qatar Airways A330-300 sporting a special livery of the 15th Asian Games. The following days saw me buying four more model planes, and with that, I decided to open a new blog dedicated to this new hobby. [...]

Scale modeling was my hobby too. If not for hectic work, I’d still be doing it now. It’s addictive. I had M1, M2, Challenger, Merkava, T72, humvee, apache and an A-10. Quite army-oriented. :)

Wow, I’m not an expert, but I can tell that those are great units to have miniature models of :P And you’re right — it is addictive!

I love to call this one “the desert phoenix”. With both maroon and orange Qatari planes firmly entrenched in my collection, the only thing missing is the blue version, which I believe symbolizes the sea that surrounds Qatar. Unfortunately, my favorite shop doesn’t have that model anymore. More pictures of the Qatar Airways Airbus A330-300 airplane model (click for full versions): [...]

Hi! I was wondering where you bought this Qatar Airways A330 model because my girl friend works there. I have the red one (without the stand) and it retails for $25 on board the aircraft. I would like to start a collection as well :)
