One Year as an Airplane Model Collector

My civilian and military fleet of 23 planes, as of December 4, 2007.

Wow, that was fast.

Exactly one year ago, I bought my very first miniature model as a whim. I didn’t foresee myself becoming serious with the hobby, branching out to fantasy minis and cars, and getting featured on TV.

After a year of collecting, my entire aircraft fleet now consists of 23 planes (16 civilian and 7 military). As if display space isn’t a huge problem of mine, I fooled myself to buying 9 Dungeons & Dragons minis and 2 collector’s cars (both cheaply manufactured Ferraris).

Five of those 23 planes were recent purchases from the US, and I just picked them up this morning from the post office. (More on my first overseas planes purchase on a future post.) In the meantime, here are some fleet pics to commemorate my “anniversary” as a miniature model collector (click for full versions):

My fleet of 6 Philippine planes, as of December 4, 2007.

Two Cebu Pacific planes (both of which were previously in my wishlist), 2 Philippine Airlines planes in old livery, and 2 PAL planes in current livery.

Nancy Castiglione and the Corsarius, talking about airplane toys 1

As earlier reported, yours truly appeared on Nancy Castiglione’s show about toys (no, nothing naughty, unfortunately) last Sunday, November 18, at 7 P.M. I was one of the episode’s four guests, and it was my pleasure to talk about my experiences as a newbie airplane minis collector. (And I did sound like one — many veterans surely found mistakes in my blabberings.)

Here are more pics of the show. Apologies for the quality; I just photographed the TV with my cheapo camera. I didn’t have the right equipment to record the show and I haven’t obtained a copy yet from Makisig Network.

AMC to be Featured in TV!

Update 11/17/07: Airing will be on November 18 at 7 P.M.

Update: The airing has been postponed to November 18. And even that date is tentative. Sorry for this belated notice; their own notice to me was also belated.

Later this day, yours truly will be guesting at At Your Pleasure, Nancy hosted by Nancy Castiglione, airing at either 2 or 3 pm on Makisig Network (channel 76/82 at SkyCable/ HomeCable, ch. 84 if you have an analog box installed).

The episode is about toys, and I will be sharing my experiences in collecting — what else — airplane miniature models!

For those who can’t catch the show, I’ll try to post some vidcaps (and hopefully a video) in the coming days. You can read my post on my main blog to learn more about my experiences in taping the episode.

Hello, welcome to my blog on model aircraft. Before everything else, I’d like to declare that I’m an absolute newbie when it comes to aircraft modelling. I started this hobby just last December 4, though I must admit I’m getting addicted to it fast.

You can learn more about this site in the About page. If you’ve got additional resources to share, feedback, or webmaster offers, please contact me at the.corsarius [at] gmail [dot] com.

With that said, please enjoy your stay on Aircraft Models Crux!
